In brief
The J. Paul Getty Museum now lets Animal Crossing players search its website for artworks, crop them and generate a QR code. Players scan the code with the Nintendo Switch smartphone app, then use NookLink to download the artwork and place it on walls, shirts and floors in the game.
The Nintendo Switch game "Animal Crossing: New Horizons" (あつまれどうぶつの森) has recently become the talk of the town. The game gives players the freedom to be creative and build their own islands. The J. Paul Getty Museum has now joined in as well, announcing on its official website that Animal Crossing players may scan the museum's artworks and place them on their islands in the game.
The Getty Museum recently announced that Animal Crossing players can now search for artworks they like on the museum's website, such as Van Gogh's Irises (Irises) and the Dutch master Rembrandt's An Old Man in Military Costume. Players can then crop the image to their liking, generate a QR code, and scan it using the Nintendo Switch smartphone app. Afterwards, they can use "NookLink" to connect the Switch and their phone, download the artwork, and place it on the walls, shirts and floors in the game.
In addition to the Getty Museum's own collection, players can also search for artworks from other museums, such as the famous paintings "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper", all of which can be found through the search. In addition, the Getty Museum encourages players, once they have downloaded artworks and finished their designs, to upload screenshots of their Animal Crossing game to social media with the hashtag "#ACArtGenerator" and by tagging "@gettymuseum".
