An app analytics company shared global app revenue data for the first half of 2018. The figures once again show that the App Store generates far more revenue for developers than any of its competitors.
App Store and Google Play users spent a combined US$34.4 billion on apps and games in the first half of 2018. Spending rose by 27.8% compared with the first half of 2017, when users of the two stores spent a total of US$26.9 billion.


App Store customers spent approximately US$22.6 billion in the first half of the year, while Google Play users spent US$11.8 billion. Although Google Play generated less revenue than the App Store, its spending growth rate was slightly higher. Spending grew by 26.8% on the App Store and 29.7% on Google Play. One point deserves particular attention: the App Store was available in China, while Google Play was not.
